Having grown up and being involved in a family farming operation where crop production was part of that operation, as well as many years professionally in the agronomy business, I will share my two cents worth on the question you raise. What I have found in pretty much every one of these types of products, they end up being nothing but "snake oil." They are typically touted heavily in times where farming and agriculture are in a depressed period of time. They may have some degree of benefit, and may be "quick reacting," but these products generally will not accomplish fully what it is you are trying to achieve. I remember seeing various "snake oil products" being mass marketed in the farm crisis of the 1980's. I saw these types of products mass marketed again in the 1990's. We have depressed ag markets now and they are making a comeback. As my father once shared with me, "If you are around long enough and observant, you will see about anything and everything make a comeback. The times we are in now mark the resurgence of the "snake oils."
