I agree, I have a 1965 John Deere 4020 and a 158 loader on it since around 1985. Without a doubt I have abused the front end with an excessive amount of weight in the bucket and driving across rough ground does not help either. I did eventually crack the wishbone and replaced it about 1998. I replaced it with an aftermarket wishbone what was much heavier than the original. I do believe that the aftermarket wishbone was modeled after the wishbone from the 1972 model 4020's as I do think they were heavier from the factory?
My wishbone broke because of abuse, not because of design.
