Yes the whole herd is Jersey . There are now 105 milking stalls in this barn , all Jersey . There are a few other Jersey herds in my county , one Ayrshire herd , one Brown Swiss , one Shorthorn , no Guernsey , and many Holstein . A lot of the Holstein herds have some Jersey cow also to raise their fat test .Several Holstein breeders cross their cows with Jersey to get cows with better components, something that once would have been unheard of . Jersey cows are in great demand , and have been for the last 4-5 years, as higher fat milk pays out so much better. I get frequent calls from folks wanting to buy cows, but it is tough to expand and sell replacements at the same time . Bruce
