Hope the weather is good the day of your Solar Eclipse. I was lucky enough to view one in Northern Canada on an island beyond Tuktoyaktuk NWT in about July of 1972.
It was a perfectly clear day at about 1:30 PM if I recall correctly. We watched the sun through our welding helmets. The TOTAL eclipse was in a very narrow band, maybe 50 miles wide.
As long as there was still a sliver of sun showing, it was daylight. When it got totally covered, it was like someone turned off the light switch!
It got totally dark; the stars came out. It was really weird; lasted maybe 5 minutes max. It was extra special for us, because it was 24 hour daylight up there then!
A person is very lucky to see a TOTAL eclipse in their life time. I've seen many partial eclipses, but only that one TOTAL eclipse.
