Some one is feeding you BS!!! The color change happened in the 1960s not the 1980s. There is Classic green that is a deeper green and the Current AG green that has a little more yellow look to it. Also the lead was taken out of the paint in the 1990s and that effected how the paint ages too.
Also comparing your tractor to the "new" paint proves nothing. Unless you have owned that tractor from DAY one and never let it set outside in the sun the current color is NOT what it was painted at the factory. Also the under side of the hood will change because of the heat off the motor.
Also the brochure is a picture taken of the tractor. They change the lighting to make the color "JUMP" out at the camera.
Also JD DOES pay attention to the color of its paint. That color is part of the "BRAND JOHN DEERE". I know from talking to company people (Not internet chat buddies that never have met a JD corporate employee)that each batch of JD paint is tested to color match before it is shipped. John Deere is not going to let the color that is a BIG part of their corporate brand be shipped out in an off color.

I've already drilled the center of the bolt out with about 7/64" drill bit the entire length of the bolt. Only one end of the bolt is visible. I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
