I earned my OOD Underway on an aircraft carrier USS Constellation. Longest period at sea was flight ops in Tonkin Gulf for 52 days. We ran out of everything except 500lb bombs, Sidewinders, and JP-5. Best Ship's Captin I ever saw handling a shipwas a former Merchant Marine service Captain. He was the only one that knew hot to barter and buy from the merchants we crossed tracks with. We were only on lanes during Transpacs from CA to HI or Guam or Phillipines Or from Hong Kong to anywhere.
