I haven't run a 4x4 baler, but I have run a JD 24T and an IH 46 (small square) baler with a worn out Super A, pushing about 18hp on the PTO on a good day, down hill. Book would say it couldn't be done. It's done about 1k bales off our small acreage, so far, even going up hill. Then I got an H.
I would venture to say that the salesman would love to sell you a new 100hp JD to run that 4x4 baler, just to make sure you have enough ponies up front. I'd also venture to say that your 41HP IH would do just fine if you weren't trying to cover a field at 15 miles an hour. The capability of a piece of equipment is about equal measure the design capacity, and the intelligence and care of the operator.
Try it. At worst, you'll have to drop to a lower gear. You can get a larger tractor if the real need arises.
