: I would like to rebore my engine just to clean up any tolerance, then replace with new pistons. If I do this does it mean that the size of the pistons will stay the same or do I have to go to a larger size? what determines or what is the tolerance that I go by? do the rings take up the tolerance if there is a small tolerance change of may be .005 on the diam.? Is the explained it a manual? Thanks! any help would be appreciated. Bob What is your engine? Have you checked the parts places (like CT, Shoup, NAPA, Worthington, etc) to see if larger pistons are available or if only standard sized with new sleeves are available. Occasionally some engines were made in more than one bore depending on the application just using different sleeves and larger bore sleeves and piston kits are available. Sometimes a repair parts place will make thinner walled sleeves to allow a larger bore and supply them only as a set. Gerald
