The temp. stayed right around 20F through the whole thing with a very strong west wind. The snow was blowing through the yard sideways for a week. It was hard to tell how much snow came down because it was blown around so. The entire county was shut down for 2 days except for emergency vehicles. On the third day, milk trucks, feed trucks and fuel oil trucks were allowed to go out. I had the bulk tank filled to brim and 3 DeLaval milking machines full and sitting in a snow bank when the milk truck got there on the 3rd. day. We lived about 3/4 of a mile off from a state road which was plowed. Our town road wasn't. I opened it with a tractor and snow blower to get the milk truck in. General travel was allowed on day 5 in the northern part of the county where I lived. The city of Watertown and some of the villages in the southern part of the county were closed for the whole week. Some barns collapsed in the southern part. There were stories of the Marines stationed at Fort Drum delivering medicine and other critical supplies with armored personnel carriers and running over some cars that were buried in snow drifts. It was interesting. I don't really want to do it again.
