It's been awhile since I bought a new refrig. I'm a fan of a side by sides, with ice and water in the door. Don't think you get that with the freezer in the bottom.
They just don't make things like they used too. I'm a fan of a 5 year extended warranty. I've collected on Lowes extended warranties too and am pleased with results. The price of a 5 year extended is about the same price as just a service call. Parts are included in 5 year plan too.
I would recommend going to Lowes home page, search for refrigs. You can do a side by side comparison of up to 4 refriges at a time. They also have many reviews on their home page. I found the side by side and reviews very helpful when I bought my last maytag dishwasher.
Keep in mind, a good chance some of the positive reviews were written my manufacturer. Ignore the nit picky negative reviews too.
Only problem with reviews is they really don't cover a long period of time. geo
