Texting can save a ton of time when you just need a quick answer to a quick question. It saves having to look up the number, make the call, wait for an answer (probably from a person that doesn't have time to answer), make your normal pleasantry's, ask the question, make your final salutations, and then hang up.
You can send a quick text, when the person has time they can reply. Now if you are needing to ask many questions or long explanations or something, then a call is best.
