For Christmas, Mom transferred some old 8mm movies to DVD for my brother and I. Thought some on here would like to see the old farming scenes, and Tom may recognize some of the area and people. This is from the farm I had posted pictures of a few years back, with the headline "Old farming pictures from the 60s and 70s" or something close to that.
My Grandfather, a few brothers, a brother in law, and the Dad, all incorporated in 1964, forming Price Farms Inc., and built a modern dairy farm. The farming scenes are between 1971 and 1973. As you'll see in the video, tractor pulling was catching on here in Maryland by then. I was laughing at the noticeable increase in smoke from the tractors between the first plowing scene and the last. Guess they figured out where the fuel screw was. Any International equipment seen is a neighbor. For a few years, Price Farms would join up with another brother who farmed on his own, and a neighbor (that ran the IH equipment)and they would rent ground. Farming it together and splitting costs and profits. In the scene where the John Deere 20 series tractors are lined up at the end of the days work- I asked my grandfather if those were some of the other farmers tractors in that line, he said nope they were all Price Farms'.
Please ignore the opening Halloween party, and the bluegrass festival in the middle, as well as the last 3 minutes which is footage of my fathers business. YouTube wouldn't let me edit those out for some reason. And the music background may or may not work.
Here's the link to the video. You need the link to find it.
