Windows wants to check the disk because it was shut down improperly. As you use the computer, Windows keeps some files open. It also stores up some information like changes in settings as you proceed. Not all of that information is immediately written to the disk. Then, when Windows shuts down, it saves all of that information to the disk. That is why it takes a bit of time to shut down when you tell it you are finished. If there are any partially written files when you powered it off, Windows wants to do the disk check to correct any errors. During this disk checking, you may see any number of unfamiliar messages. Unless it is an alert of a critical error, just let it continue. No harm is done.
