If you receive a counterfeit USPS money order whoever sent it is committing mail fraud (a federal offense). If you receive a USPS money order, and do not ship the item you are committing mail fraud (a federal offense). This is as told to me by a friend of mine who has been working for the USPS for many, many years. It's the best way to pay for something if only a check, or money order can be used for payment. For a personal check from either the same bank, or a different bank than yours it's best to check with your bank as to how long it takes to clear before shipping. A USPS money order is usually the safer, quicker way to go.
