I can drive the truck on what is call "pc off duty" which is personal conveyance off duty. As long as I have at least 1 minute left on my logs I can switch to that and do stuff as long as I drop the trailer. I still have to stay within the 14 and 70 hour rules, but no hours acrue while driving. Dart allows us to drive as much as we want for that since we buy our own fuel. No the logs dont have to be logged in to move the truck, in fact there is a log out feature so that you can leave it for repairs ect and they can drive it without compromising the log. I suppose it is technically posible to detune and shut down a truck with log violations, but imagine the lawsuit when he gets caught on the road due to weather or a closed road for a accident and his truck shuts down on the road. I'm not buyin that. Dart expects a violation every week or so and they say nothing about it. Technically you could get a citation from the dot for it, but I've never heard of that unless they were just violating to get more miles or from poor planning.

Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that.
