Mainland China industry tend to shutdown for a month at Lunar New Year, 2 weeks before is scrap price drop time, end of order time to get delivery in 2 weeks for some toys and electronics, appliances. Last week of Chinese Lunar new year is about the time orders stacked up are looked at, some projections of material needs and work schedule rough figured- this is about the time scrap prices will start going back up in anticipation of factory demands for scrap. A week or 2 after the factories confirm orders and start foundries the Chinese scrap piles will be hitting last bits and pieces, first of new deliveries of baled scrap supposed to get to foundries-- some slack in timing expected. First full moon after winter solstice is start of Lunar New Year- that was January something this year so now is about time for China factories to need some more material- meaning US scrap dealers now getting paid for dockside delivery at decent price for the full demand cycle.
