A 40 year old fire truck may have more value as a collector vehicle than as a working truck. Hemmings Motor News may be a good place to advertise it nation wide. Transportation costs could hurt its value. How old are the tires?
If you were in a more populated area you could raffle it as a fund raiser. Print up 5,000 raffle tickets to sell for $5 each with the first prize a choice of the fire truck or $5,000 cash.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
