I want to thank you all for your input on my firetruck post. It just goes to show you that guys that like old tractors are square shooters. We do not believe that this truck has any value as a working firetruck, but we feel that if there is value, it would be on the collectors market. It's pretty cool to see all the original parts stamped IH on them, something that I know is looked for. We may consider throwing this on ebay with a ridiculous high reserve just to see what value it has. At least then, we would know what to budget for. I think I'm going to register at Red Power and throw this up over there too. If we are only going to get a couple of thousand for it, one of our members wants it as a parade truck. We'd keep it ourselves for this, but space is a limiting factor. Our fire hall is the only thing that is still active in this little town. Every day the locals get together there for coffee and cookies. It's a win/win situation. They get a place to go and we have someone checking on our heat. Also the money we make from the coffee gives us a little beer money. This year we actually had enough "slush" money to have a Christmas party for us and our spouses. That's the first time that has happened in the 10 years that this department has re-organized. We have about 15 members with 10 being very active. Most of the work done is by us with pay being a beer. Thanks again for your help. Jay

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
