I have had some success by using a hooking on a deer hunting lock on stand and strapping a home-made box with about five frames next to the tree hive. This way you give them some place to swam to. If you have a frame or two that has some honey started on it might make it more inviting. If they swam in your box just take it down and transfer your frames to your new waiting box and sugar water if still cold and will help so they don't have to go far and stay busy in the hive. Years ago they use to refer to them as gum trees and they use to cut that section on the tree out put a piece of wood on top and bottom and use this as a hive. Don't know how they got the honey out unless they waited for them to swam. Then cut the tree open. I've been out of bee keeping for years now but in the spring while turkey hunting I find myself looking up in the trees for a small hole with a little yellow at the bottom of the hole. I guess old habits die hard. Good luck with your swam.

Silo Filling Time On dairy farms back in the 30's and into the first half of the 40's, making of corn silage was done with horses pulling a corn binder producing tied bundles of fresh, sweet-smelling corn plants, nice green leaves with ear; the
