There's no connection between valve clearance and how fast or how slow a starter turns an engine over.
Don't agree. If valves are too loose on an OHV engine, the valve used for decompression won't release a little compression and you think the starter is bad or you have a bad battery.
If valves are too tight, they won't close and the engine will spin over as if it had no spark plug.
I'VE never seen valves get too tight over time. Mine get too loose. Some people damage starters and starter rings if valves are a little too loose.
