I just purchased a IH Farmall Cub Cadet. The man I purchased it from said it was a Farmall Cub Cadet, reading postings on the internet there were IH and Farmall Cub's. What's the difference and what is a Cub Cadet verses a Cub. I too have looked for the s/n but as of yet (only had it 2 days so far) am unable to locate it. Again from internet readings I am told it is on the right next to the steering box but you say it is on the Xmission casting. I will look again today. I will have many questions. This tractor is original, in great shape and with the original crank to besides the optional electric starter. Thanks

: That no. is a casting no. not the serial number. The serial number is stamped
: on a raised square about 1 inch square on the transmission casting.
: it should be a number in the 501-65457 range. I also have an Original
: which is restored.

: Good luck,

: Bill

: : I have a cub cadet original I am told. I have located a number embossed on the right lower side. The # is 351530-R7 and is wriiten upside down. I have seen the pictures of the "Original Cub" and they are identical. Mine also has the original hydrolic pump to the one point hitch on the rear, and to the square mowing deck. If any one has any info I would appriciate it. I cannot locate this serical # anywhere.

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: JB Weld - by Staff. JB Weld is basically an epoxy glue that does an exceptionally good job of bonding to cast iron and steel along with several other materials. As I mentioned, it is so common that I have yet to buy a tractor that did not have JB Weld used somewhere. It is sometimes used so well you can't tell its there and other times used as a sloppy quick fix. Finding where and how it can be used correctly is key to whether you are using it as an "inelegant hack" or an integral solution to difficult and expens ... [Read Article]
