: : The N series in general is a reasonable utility tractor for puttering around a few acres. The prices you see anymore are more a reflection of the folks buying them these days; in this area (Northern Ohio) its the yuppies and city folks moving to a few acres. They love the size, the wide front, and gotta have that three point. Plus, as long as you don't do something really dumb to them, its hard to screw one up. Perfect for yuppies and city folks. Around here prices are: Rough ... $2500. Clean ... $3000 Painted ... $3500. Nice ... $4000 and up. Of course you can get an 80 HP unit 15-20 years newer for less!!! : What "80 HP unit 15-20 years newer for less" are you speaking of? I might be interested. Just saw an Oliver 1800 listed today in YT for $3500, I think. Not really that unusual. I've been to auctions where a nice 80 HP unit is setting beside an 8N ... 8N is a bit rough, big unit is ready to go. 3 grand for the 8N and 3 grand for the 80 HP guy (could be an Oliver, IH, Case, whatever ... except the green ones, those guys are loyal). Saw a nice David Brown (does anybody buy them?) with a front loader and 65 HP (I was told), straight, good paint, solid rubber, no smoke... a nice looking unit; sold last Saturday at auction; $2500. My brother just sold his Ford 601 to a gentleman for $4300. Took the money and bought a IH 656 (w/o the Hydro, luckily) and still had enough left over to buy a wide front end for the 656!!
