unhook the glow plugs and try it see if it still does it if it starts you have shorted glow plug or glow plug harness when you turn to start it powers the glow plugs for just a split second if it still does it unhook alt and try it the alt can short out and cause same problem but most of time it is the glow plugs if I remember correct that could cause that but it has been a while
