This area is loaded with them. Permethrin applied to your clothing will make them jump off and soon die. It is supposed to last 6 washings too. If I walk any deer path in this area, I'll have them on me. Lighter color clothing makes them easy to spot. Any deer taken during the season seems to be loaded with them. I discredit the mice being substantial carriers of them around here as there was many years without a high deer population. Mice have always been here. I never saw one tick in all those years without many deer and spent a lot of time outside. never saw any on livestock either. The ticks came with the deer. Rabbits seem to be loaded with them as well. I've trapped a lot of mice over the years and many I hear the trap go off. They are still warm when removed, not one tick on any mouse I've found in a trap. The tick nymphs can be small and hard to see, but there are plenty of adults which are easily seen. I've had Lyme disease, its no fun at all.
