The reason is that the most likely time you will need to evacuate quickly is from the time the engines are started until sometime after lift off. If you have bare feet the evacuation will be painful to say the least when you need to run through rubble or glass or jet fuel. And you will slow the others 'cause you'll be saying 'ouch' with each step you take

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
