I generally try to wait 5 to 7 days after ammonia application. Some say to wait 7 days while I have seen people plant the next day. The ammonia is not my concern. I am concerned about the occasional deep furrow the marker leaves once in a while that can cause an increased flow of water to run down that single area causing erosion. If I had some depth bands the cut made by the marker blade would be minimal. I should add this is in no-till. I apply ammonia and plant. Some places the ground is hard where no NH3 knifes went and where the NH3 knife did go it can be very soft which causes the increased depth.
