And I thought I was doing good by upgrading to a 1994 Scag that my brother aquired with his house last fall. 22 HP Kohler engine, 61"deck. Really good shape and lots of spare belts, blades, bushings, etc. all for $1000. I cut my lawn with it Friday and the ride was a little rough, but when I checked the tires they were all over 15 psi. I let a little out, we'll see next time I cut the lawn how it rides.
Last year I cut with a Craftsman (mtd built) 42" gear drive machine. That sucked. I also had a John Deere 140 that I was trying to get running right but never managed to cut much with it at one time. I sold both of those and bought the scag.
Years before I used my parents John Deere 425 w/ 60" deck. I could cover some ground with that one too.
