Had a similar situation a few years ago when my father died. My brother and I decided I would handle selling his S-10 truck, it wasn't in good shape, a lot of rust and the price was low. Had it parked on the main road infront of a friends house with my phone no. on it. Got a call from a guy, wanted it, agreed to meet after work the next day for him to buy it. No money exchanged yet. I show up and somebody else stopped and after looking at it wants it. I say "If you got the cash it is yours, but I am waiting for someone who is supposed to be meeting me here so if you want it I wouldn't waste any time". He paid me and he and his friend drive off, one in the truck, the other in their original vehicle. About that time the other guy shows up and he is pissed when I tell him what happened. I say "sorry" and my girlfriend and I get into the car to drive off and this guy, who has a car carrier truck starts to drive the truck like he is going to hit us. I left in a fair rush and got down the road fairly fast and tool a different road. As has been said "cash talks". In this case I had no way of knowing if the first guy would actually show up and I had a cash offer so I took it. I have had a lot of folks on the phone say, "I want it, will be right there, don't sell it to anyone else" and t hen never show up. Cash talks.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
