Redcow92 -- First of all, welcome to YT!! Second, that's a right fine looking tractor for $700. Great buy, IMO.
Wife and I went yesterday to look at a Dodge pickup that was advertised on CL. We got there and the body rust looked a little worse in person than what the pics showed. Also, it was a 2000 model 1/2-ton, 4x4, 5.9l. I was starting to have my doubts when the owner came up and stuck his arm in, turned the key and the engine roared to life. It was a stone-cold engine block, so I knew he hadn't been out there warming it up beforehand.
Got in and took it for a little spin. Boy, this thing purrrrrrred!! Engine was so smooth that I almost couldn't believe it! He had replaced all that air intake fluff with a K&N setup - nice! Tried out the shift ranges and was simply blown away! This was THE nicest truck I'd ever seen when shifting between 4hi and 4lo!! Only reason they were selling is they had just gotten a new (to them) 28' enclosed gooseneck trailer for pulling their race car and needed something bigger than this truck.
Now the wife is wanting me to hold off on my project and maybe even keep this as our second vehicle. ...Not sure she understands that I "need" such a base platform to Frankenstein from. Anyway, I thought the price was a little high until I heard it run and then felt all the shifting (both the gears and the ranges). I was sold! It was easily worth every penny!
This is only the 2nd time I've bought something off of CL. Have inquired (or tried to) on many items, but keep coming upon these folks who just don't seem to want to sell much. But I must say, found a family yesterday that I wouldn't mind stopping in and saying 'Hi' to now and then when passing through.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
