Hi all, I am at my wits end. Last season my MF 481 would suddenly shut down while brush hogging my fields. At first I assumed it was a fuel or air starvation issue. It would slowly stall then shut down as if the fuel supply was being cut off. I checked the fuel pump, checked for vapor lock, replaced the fuel filter and even changed fuel with fresh. nothing worked. I sat on the tractor the following morning at attempted to start it. As the starter was spinning I could hear the engine wanting to start and eventually it did. I finished mowing the fields and I thought it was solved. But, the following outing I had the same experience. This happened 3-4 times. Finally at the end of the season I had the dealership service it and told them of the issue I was having. Upon delivery of my tractor it stalled coming off the trailer. They took it back and informed me that there was a bare wire that shorted out. Ok, so I finally got the tractor back again. I was discing my field when it happened yet again. I let it sit overnight and she started up the same as before; slowly. I called the dealership and was told that it has to be short. Meanwhile when I was returning to my barn I noticed the trans. filter restriction light was flashing. I called the dealership and was told that can't be it. I also checked the trans. fluid level and it was lower than the "min" mark on the stick. With only two hours on the machine after service, it's hard to believe that I lost that much fluid without noticing it.(something sounds fishy) I was told that all fluids were topped off and all filters were changed. I am at a loss. I can't keep trying to work this machine and get stuck at random times. I will find out if and where the trans is leaking fluid. I just cant seem to solve the stalling issue PLEASE HELP, any suggestions??

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
