Check your manual. A known issue from the early injection days- Yamaha had the oil injection at intake manifold- was a cheap way to use existing 'premix' engine, just add the variable injection pump and tank, line to intake area. The Suzis I rode had a different system, they had direct injection of oil to a main bearing and that oil went to connecting rod, other main bearing got tranny oil and cylinder had oil line also. Some oil mist to bottom of piston, ring area, wrist pin. Yamaha worked, was cheaper used more oil- Suzi and Kaws used less oil, met emission standards but had about half way to 4 stroke in crankshaft, machining for oil channels. Racing use was wire oil pump full open on Suzi, no premix- if in emergency say broken oil pump premix could be used 25 to 32:1 but only to 1/2 throttle for short time- crankshaft bearing at risk. A guess- outboard engine has one main bearing part sealed for the direct oil injection that also does connecting rod, other main bearing is a ball thrust bearing with open to inside crankcase getting some splash and mist from the oil that first did the main bearing, connecting rod big end. Vertical crank, the open bearing is at bottom to get trickles of oil. Premix will lead to upper crankshaft bearing failure followed by connecting rod bearing close second. Some later Lawnboys had this pattern crankshaft injection- Suzi patents expired or nominal license. First series didn't have the low oil ignition ground for empty oil tanks- rods went through sides when run low on oil- even with premix. RN
