Squeeze will be the operative word especially if the tires are old and stiff.
My experience was shoehorning a pair of 13.6x38 radial Michelins on to 10" wide rims. That was an epic wrestling match complete with lots of cussing and flying tire irons. It was also before I bought my bucket of "astroglide" tire snot.
