It looks like I-70 would be much more direct, are you trying to avoid the traffic around St. Louis and Kansas City? If you are going out of your way to get to US 34, I'd go a little further north to I-80. Lots of hills on both I-80 and US 34, but I-80 is a modern 4 lane while the western 250 miles of your US 34 is older 2 lane. Either route, make sure your brakes are in tip-top condition.
If you do take US 34, at the Nebraska border US 34 turns south with US 75 for 15 miles and then west 45 miles to I-80 at Exit #401 in Lincoln, NE. A short cut that saves 15 miles and 20-30 minutes would be to continue straight west past the US 34 & US 75 interchange for 15 miles to I-80 at Exit #432. A mile west of US 75 the four lane dumps into an old narrow 2 lane road named Platteville Road. Platteville Road has a lot of traffic for its size. Watch your speed and be prepared to stop on steep downhills for local traffic stopped in the road trying to turn left across traffic without any turn lanes or road shoulders.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
