Green dash models are considered 1957 models and black dash are 1958's I know that isn't exactly what some serial number lists say. That is what John Deere considered them. Most serial number lists actually list the year they were manufactured. The 20 series tractors that were manufactured in late 1956 were sold as 1957 models. Except 420's, seems when ever you say something about old John Deere's there is an exception.
