Goodness.. probably 100 posts about this over the years...
NOT all oils are created equal. IF IF IF is has the API certification on it it is supposed to meet a MINIMUM standard. that's all. Some oils are not certified to the API standard there is NO law or regulation that they must be API certified. YOur owners manual will say to use API grade xyz however. Look at the bottle. it costs a fortune to get API certified and there are oils on the market that are NOT certified.
Each manufacturer makes what ever oil their customer wants. if wallyworld wants the cheapest junk oil they can get that's what they'll put in the bottles. If Nappa wants the super premium (they don't) then the SAME manufacturer will put that oil in their bottle. and they might put something in between in their own bottle.
The SAME exact thing goes with batteries too. (sorry VicS)
an example is a ford focus versus a lincoln mkz. both are made by ford so they're the same right? they both pass the Fed motor vehicle standards they must be the same right? NO!
a JD mower made in China is the same as the ones they make in Horicon, WI right?? they're both JD's <

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
