I think it was a few months before the election that I talked with my Financial adviser. I asked him to use a $35000 annual income in his retirement model. He said that if a start collecting SS at 62.5 that my money will last until I am 85. Personally, I think $35K was a generous amount. Average can be a very misleading word. When I asked if the people that need 80% had mortgages, he could not answer that. To me, it is an apples to oranges comparison. Of course the problem is that there are too many variables in each of our lives. Then there are health issues. A stroke and or heart attack and you can throw everything right the window.
The happy pills are starting to look like the best option. Monday I get to return to my new, old work cell. They replaced three of the old machines and had someone else set up and test run 80% of the parts, while I worked as a utility in other areas. I was asked to attend a meeting in the conference room. The director of manufacturing and my supervisor gave me a piece of paper that had 5 "YOU WILL NOT DO" and about 5 "YOU MUST DO" items. It occurred to me that I am no longer a machinist, just a machine operator. I hope my frame of mind will improve, but I feel like I am no longer in control of anything anymore. Oh well. Thank you SDE
