First shop I worked in they used metal milk crates for jack stands.
Jack it up and set the wheels on the crates... How we survived I dunno... I came along about the time they brought two air bumper jacks they sure beat the ell out of those screw jacks are a chain fall... Those along with milk crates we all should have died...
