Thanks Charlie. I have read extensively about the Pacific war but of course don't remember everything. Some things stand out though and kinda become your favorites. I follow a couple of this day in history sites and if there's an entry for something I like or remember well I'll try to write about it here. I always liked the USS England and read not only about her but of the subs she killed and the captains and crews who manned those subs. What life was like serving on them, etc. For example: our submariners had the highest casuality rate of all the US armed forces in WWII. About 20% of those who served were lost. Compare that to the Japanese sub service where more like 75% were lost and you wonder how they could stand to serve. Btw, worse yet were the Uboats where more than 80% of their crews were lost. Amazing. Anyway, I like to read and I enjoy writing these little vignettes about the war so as long as I get positive replies to them I'll continue. By the way, the 75th anniversary of the battle of Midway is just around the corner so maybe I'll try to come up with something that wasn't on the history channel already.

On our first cosmetic restoration, not having a manual, we carefully marked the wires, taped the magneto in the position it came off, and were careful not to turn the engine over while we had these components off. We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t
