I've priced and shopped till I'm blue in the face. In no way can I justify $10k for a system, and I've had a lot of people price then to me in that range. I've called and talked to several manufacturers about my operation and what they think would work for me with there equipment. In the end Priefert won out. S0191, pal cage, 12ft alley, and a 90 degree sweep(all Priefert) for just under $4000. I spoke directly with Priefert several times and was amazed with the service and knowledge that they provide. Some of the other contenders were a complete Formost system(identical setup except a 16ft alley), but it was there 125 chute(a very light chute) and the 30t headgate for $5200, and a Tarter series 6 chute with a manual headgate and one those custom built galvanized 90 degree sweeps with a 10 ft alley for right around $4000 as well. The Formost was probably my second choice, there company was pretty good with correspondence as well. Filson also had what seemed like some pretty good chutes and were really good to talk with on phone as well. But there whole priced system were a little high. I appreciate all the input.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
