I have a friend that does part time mechanic work and has a Massey in his shop that has a Perkins 318 in it. He received this tractor with engine in pieces. I think he has the pistons in backward? I have never worked on a 318 but just looking at the head and the location of the injectors it appears the chamber in top of the piston goes towards the left or away for the cam. The pistons are aftermarket and have no markings on the top. What happens if he starts this and the pistons are in backward? I really cannot or do not want to get into this, but he is a good friend and I do not want to see him get himself into a big problem. I hope Dieseltech reads this and has has the answer. Thanks in advance.
