When I was young, my father would put kerosene in a jar with a wick in, then set it out in the corn. It would work for a few days. Shooting works but the trouble is, that means you've got to be there every night. The best way is with a large live trap... then you can either release them elsewhere which my dad would sometimes do but only after spraypainting their tail to see if they ever returned (never did) or shoot 'em. I had trouble with coyotes in the corn.... they would really raise the devil with it. I'd sit out nights with the rifle. I put electric fence up and that is reasonably good for most critters(not skunk) but the darn moose walk right on through and take all the wire with them. They don't seem to eat any, just pass through. ... and yes, skunks most certainly do damage corn! My vote is for live traps. Dad always picked a fresh ear of corn about dusk and bait the trap with it. He would rip all the kernels open with his thumbnail so that it really put the aroma of corn on the air. Good also because dogs and cats have no interest in it. good luck!
