Read the post below and on tales, wife and i carried lunch to a good friend, a widower of 93 years old. Just an old country boy from alabama and about the only time he went to town was on a wagon with a bale of cotton on it. In may 1943 at age 18 he was drafted and sent to an army post in washington state, from there he went to england where he served as a truck driver. D-Day+3 he drove a truck ashore at Normandy. He knew it wasn't near as bad as the landing but those three days bobbing out on the sea plus the unknown was pretty bad. I posted a photo of him last year and when i get to my laptop i will post it again. By the way, he still lives by himself, cooks, pay his bills and drive, A Truly Remarkable Man.
