You should really check you facts. Insurance companies are going broke selling medical insurance. It isn't the insurance companies, it the managed health care providers. Even non profit providers are affected by this in that the managed providers, most often larger and offering more services, refuse to take referrals from non profits unless the non profit toes the line on billing.
Now go take a look at just how well most countries with socialized medicine are doing. Not well and they go deeper in every year! The only ones who are doing well are the ones where things like all mineral rights belong to the government. They also either pay very high taxes or high prices on consumer goods....because of taxes. The money has to come from somewhere. And not just from the rich. Where a lot of these countries get people is taxes are added to consumer goods prior to the sale so you don't even know the tax is there at check out.
Socialism in general fails because everyone is supposed to share equally. So there is no reward for new ideas, better work or even hard work. No incentives means you become stagnate.
