It seems like this situation kind of comes and goes. I don't have any tractor newer than a late 1990's model, so it seems I don't have the experiences others do with this newer equipment. The auto industry seems to have certain years and models that have issues, then they work out those bugs thus having good equipment, then they experience problems again. The issues with smog control equipment and computer controls seems to have generally been a root cause of some grief. I have a friend of mine with a New Holland tractor, comparable to the Case IH Maxxum line of around 120 horsepower. It has some quirks he is not so fond of in that tractor, particularly in the 3 point hitch setup. It is more troublesome than his old 3020 Deere, which is nearly 50 years older. I don't know if all this change can be considered progress or improvement.
