Don't know what type of solenoid you're looking at but a replacement for an older GM may or may not be shorter, would usually come with one or two copper sleeves and extra screws for the sleeves. the pictured solenoid has the 3/8 short stud when mounted on starter will be at the bottom and will line up with a narrow strap. The right length sleeve and screw bolt the strap to the threaded hole in the stud. One small stud will have an S next to it for the from the switch, the other might have an R.
