My guess is, to be honest, that someone of the great John Deere Collectors Club of America determined that the 1010 and 2010's were the junk of the John Deere fleet, so everyone else felt compelled to agree, lest they appear they to be ignorant.
But yet, there are still many being used today. I just sold a 1010 gas that I used several years on various small jobs that, although it did use a little oil, it was still operating very well. My FIL purchased a new 2010 gas that he used for small farming duties, until the day he put a loader on it and turned it over to the crew on his very large hog farm. The help abused the heck out of it for another 20 years until he retired it and gave it to me. I used it to rotary mow, dig many postholes, FEL work, and anything else I needed it for another 10 years. It was still running pretty good at that point with the only major work being synchronizers being worked on in the transmission.
I'm not going to say the little 10 series were great machines, but my guess is they held up as well as they were treated. Bob

It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
