I’m replacing the rear tires and one rim/loop on my Ford 850. I plan on reusing the other rim.
Currently one tire is 12x28, and the other side has one marked 13.6x28 (though it is also noted on the tire it is for a 12” rim and a replacement for 12x28).
I’m still waiting on the new tires to arrive, but the replacement rim arrived today. It is noticeably wider than the rims currently on the tractor. Because the tires are still mounted, it’s a little difficult to accurately measure the width of the current rims, but when I tried, it appeared that they are at least 1” narrower than the replacement.
One of the pictures is of my attempt to get an edge-to-edge measurement of the current rim, which shows it to be in the area of 11.25".
I measured the replacement, and between bead seats (picture) it measures about 11.5”. Edge to edge it is about 12.75".
The new tires are 13.6x28 (for 12” rims).
If I do as a previous owner did and mount the 13.6x28 tires on what appears to an undersized rim, are there problems I can anticipate?

From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
