I see one big problem coming up with all of this autonomous technology. LIABILITY. In capital letters! Who is liable when one of these "self guided" machines goes haywire and causes property damage or runs down a crowd of people? The designer? The programmer? The manufacturer? The owner? Or all of them? One big advantage that a person has is that one can THINK. A machine cannot. If a person makes a bad decision, we all know who to look at. The programming in these machines is a long way from "perfect." At some point, there will be a catastrophe.
I do not necessarily shun technology, but there are some things that should still be left to people for the foreseeable future. I do not want to share the road with driverless cars. I also do not like the idea of driverless machinery running at large in public. Sorry, but I do not think that the time has come for that.
