I an 73 now and have never been without a tedder when was farming. What I grew up with was the New Idea 3 bar rake-tedder the was built from about 33 to 47 when they went to the 4 bar model. Some time in the early 4 bar model time or possibly earlier time Grandpa desided that 3 bar was wore out so traded it on a New 4 bar Deere that was rake only. Not shur just how lokg he had that Deere but it was still very new when we got a wet year with hay on the ground that we could not get dry,When that hay was laying in winrow wet he went back to dealer and traded that new Deere back in on a 4 bar rake-tedder from New idea and we had that rake untill quit hay. I now rebuild rakes for the Amish and that New Idea rake-tedder built from late 40's to mid 50's is the most desireable rake out there and I just cannot find enough of then for demand.
