If it is a Case 350 diesel it will be a mid to late 70's model and it is comparable in size and power to a JD 350. I remember a lot of them used in the log woods years ago, operators liked them because they steer easy and the controls are conveniently mounted and they were also easy to work on and service. The winches I am familiar with were hydraulic, they had 3 position valves mounted on the operators platform to the right of the operator, the functions were simple, a brake position for hauling the load after it had been winched up, detent, or nuetral position for unspooling and of course the winching position. I can remember the 3 way valves sticking or by- passing and winch would be hard to spool off by hand, many times it would have to be pulled off by tieing to a tree but that was minor stuff and the valves were simple and cheap to rebuild. If the machine has been sitting any length of time you can just about count on the winch being somewhat tight but it should loosen up with use. I doubt I would pay 7500 for a 350, not because of anything wrong with one just more because the size of the machine limits what it can do, although if you take your time you could probably do a whole lot more with it than is commonly thought.
